Safari Snorkel
Snorkels are meant to put the air intake for your vehicle up high so cool clean air can be sent into the engine. Dusty roads and high water crossings are their forte. My snorkel added 4 mpg highway!!!

MetalTech Rock Slider/Steps
MetalTech makes the best armor for Toyota SUVs! These sliders keep sharp rocks away from the body and can act as a support to lift the vehicle.

Danner RAT USMC
These have got to be one of the most rugged boots that are also one of the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. I knot the laces at the top and wear them open as a slip on, lacing them tight when things get serious. Great boots!

Nikon P7000
Great point and shoot with some features SLRs don't have like a flash sync speed of 1/2,000 second. Seriously!
Slow focusing not great for animals, but superior Video & Sound!!!
Nikon P100
Not terribly impressed. Video OK, Sound bad. Long focal length not very practical. Not worth it when you can get a P7000 for just a little more.

Canon 60D
Best Canon for the money!!! With ALL 9 focusing sensors being Cross-Type sensors there's no other camera in its league for the price!
Deuter ACT Light
With adjustable height shoulder strap anchor, this pack is perfect for any size person. Awesome comfortable, light weight and cool.
Tenba Messenger Large
Awesome bag!
Mine holds: 17" laptop, 2 camera bodies, 14-24mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm, 10mm, 2x extension, 2 SB-800s, misc filters and cords. I like the army green because it has accessory points you can attach those cheap army surplus pouches.

Garmin Rino 530 HCx
Best GPS receiver I've ever owned EVER! Battery life of over 27 hours! Two way radio and positioning system lets you speak to and see others in your group so you can literally see where they are on your topo map!
Coverage in the densest of forest, in buildings and canyons. A deep couloir can cause bounced satellites, but not too confusing if you expect it.

Danner Light II
LOVE THESE BOOTS! Perfect for everyday or hiking off trail. The perfect shoe. Been wearing them almost every day for 5 years.
Danner Canadian
Could be the toughest warmest boots I've ever owned! These are monsters, a little heavy, but ready for any environment. If I could only have one boot for the coming Zombie invasion, these would be my choice.

Nikon 14-24mm f2.8
Best wide angle zoom I've ever shot with, period. Nothing produces better edge to edge sharpness, not even most prime lenses! Huge problem with lens flare however. Huge problem! As long as you keep the lens shaded its superior to all others, but a little bit of light gets in and the image may be toast.
Nikon 24-70mm f2.8
Again the best zoom I've shot with in this range. Simple review, but keep in mind this is the lens that is always on my camera.
Nikon 70-200mm f2.8
This like Canon's 70-200 f2.8 IS lens is a must have for everyone. At some point everyone will own one. Gorgeous bokeh, brilliant speed. Portraits, sports, animals, this lens is amazing.

Nikon D300
This is my daily camera now. Excellent image quality, fast enough for everything I do. Not heavy as my old D2x or the D3x.
X-Rite i1 Display Calibrator
Does its job well.
ARB Roof Rack & Bull Bar
Excellent armor. Bull Bar is airbag compliant. New Roof Rack made of aluminum would be much lighter than mine but still support 400 lbs. Best investment for my Land Cruiser.
Toyo Open Country MT
Aggressive looks are killer! Off-road ability killer! Road manners stink!!!
These had to be replaced by Les Schwab because the belts came loose and caused wandering on the highway. Now second set are within a year of their life expectancy and there is so much vibration in the steering wheel at highway speeds my watch shakes. Would not buy these again. But they look great.
Les Schwab was great and replaced the first set once we realized what the problem was!

Epson Pro 78000
Best investment we ever made for our studio. The larger the printer the more efficient its ink management system is. Spent about $1,000 every two years on ink.
Epson 2200
Excellent starter printer. New model 2880 would be just as good place to start. Ink management is adequate. We spent about $2,000 every year on ink.

Wacom Intuos Large
Once you use one you won't be able to live without it. Best Photoshop device ever!
Markins Ballhead
This is the best out there. Small, lightweight but able to hold about 100 lbs of camera and lens. Doesn't mean you'll put 100 lbs on it, but it means its tensioning will be much more smooth than a ballhead that has a capacity of 40 lbs. Great ballhead! |
Nikon D3
Tried it, liked it just fine. Switched to D300. At some point you just realize its about the image, not about the camera. Didn't need a big heavy camera. Sure it has nice features that some photographers must have, but I didn't absolutely need it.

Nikon D2x
This is the one camera I truly miss! Truly, truly, truly miss! I loved that camera. Best focusing sensor layout ever, EVER! The 9 cross-type sensors were laid out perfectly in the rule of thirds! AMAZING camera. I'm tearing up right now just thinking about it.
Nikon D70
First camera to offer TTL flash technology. That's why I switched from the D100. OK image quality. Bad noise! |
Nikon D100
My first digital camera. Soft images due to heavy duty anti-aliasing filter. Don't miss it too much. It did its job well, but we've come a long way since then!
